Functions

Downward Purging

Release exterior and induce diaphoresis
Sx: lower abdominal distention and pain (usually R side) that increases upon pressure with rebound tenderness, guarding of the abdominal musculature. there may also be pain in the groin which is relieved by flexing the hip and knee and intensified by extending the hip. additionally, there may be a mass in the LRQ of the abdomin, and irregular, intermittent fever followed by chills and sweating. T: thin, yellow and greasy tongue coat. P: slippery and rapid.

da huang 12g

mang xiao [dissolve in strained decoction] 9-12g

mu dan pi 3g

tao ren 9-15g

dong gua ren 15-30g
